Doors Open Days 2022

Doors Open Days 2022 took place on 17th and 18th September. The weather held out (for the most part) as visitors across Perth and Kinross explored, toured and more(d!).  Over at Lower City Mills, more than 180 people came through the doors. Our visitors – the youngest just 14 months old – enjoyed tours, an exhibition, our ‘How Water Powers the Mill’ video (available here) and of course, the all important teas and coffees. Our younger visitors particularly enjoyed having a go on our quern stone!

“A most interesting venue and tour. It would be a great attraction if you open to the public – especially if the wheel could turn occasionally.”

“Excellent, fascinating tour. Would love to see these happening more regularly. Inspired now to read more about what I have heard. I have learned a lot today – thank you.”

– Lower City Mills visitors

We’d like to say a huge thank you to our wonderful volunteers for their hard work – as well as the hard work and dedication of the participating venues around the region. We simply wouldn’t be able to do it without you. We’re still waiting to hear the final numbers from across the region, but for now it’s safe to say we’ve had another enjoyable year. See all you in 2023!

If you visited a Doors Open Days event this year, we’d love to hear your feedback! Go to www.doorsopendays.org.uk to find the survey. Fill it in for a chance to win a £50 voucher to a Scottish venue of your choice!
