Agri-environment and Land Management
Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust provides an archaeological consultation service for agri-environment schemes and land management enquiries.
The Scotland Rural Development Plan (SRDP) for 2007 – 2013 covers all aspects of rural land management, including forestry (www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Rural/SRDP).
Archaeological sites and historic buildings (the historic environment) should not be damaged by changes in land management with the protection of the historic environment the responsibility of land managers in receipt of grant under the scheme. Information about the historic environment curated by Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust is available online through Pastmap (www.pastmap.org.uk). Further information and advice can be sought direct from the Heritage Officer.
SRDP – Rural Development Contracts
One of the aims of the SRDP is to improve our historic environment through conservation, sensitive reuse and enhanced management. The Built and Cultural Heritage is recognised as a regional priority for Tayside with grant available through the Rural Development Contract – Rural Priorities scheme for projects that enhance and conserve historic farm buildings and archaeological sites, support traditional skills and increase public appreciation of the historic environment
Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust will provide advice and information including for vernacular building repairs for SRDP Rural Development Contract – Rural Priorities applicants in 2009-2010 up to the level of budget provided by Historic Scotland. Applicants are encouraged to seek advice at early stage to inform their Statement of Intent. Enquiries regarding SRDP should be made to the Heritage Officer.
